Educational Programming

Nancy Island Historic Site is the most significant War of 1812 site in Simcoe County and the Georgian Bay region. It commemorates the August 14, 1814 battle between HMS Nancy and three American schooners – a designated national historic event.

Students will explore how Indigenous and British allies worked together to defend Canadian territory. This program supports the Grade 7 Ontario History Curriculum, Strand B: Canada, 1800–1850 – Conflict and Challenges. Programs are available as outreach visits to your classroom or on-site at Nancy Island Historic Site.
