Great Whales: Up Close and Personal
On view through March 20, 2022
Showcasing the ROM’s commitment to Canada’s iconic North Atlantic whales, this exhibition features Blue, the ROM’s beloved blue whale, alongside two newly acquired skeletons: the critically endangered right whale and the deep diving sperm whale. With hands-on interactives and immersive experiences, Great Whales compares these three unique giants, from their size and diet to their intelligence and evolution, while highlighting the extensive ongoing research and conservation efforts being undertaken to save these highly at-risk mammals.

Tightrope: Elias Sime
On view through September 5, 2021
Contemporary Ethiopian artist Elias Sime presents his intricately woven and densely layered artworks that draw upon their materiality to comment on humanity, ecological sustainability, and the resilience of nature. The Tightrope series featuring 24 artworks, includes his work from the last decade and is the first Canadian presentation of this exhibition.

The Cloth that Changed the World: India’s Painted and Printed Cottons
On view through September 6, 2021
Made with novel cotton, vivid colours and exuberant design, the painted and printed cottons of India changed human history; they revolutionized art, fashion and science wherever they went around the globe. Featuring pieces from the Museum’s world-renowned collection, and several important international loans, this ROM-original exhibition explores how over thousands of years India’s artisans have created, perfected and innovated these printed and painted multicoloured cotton fabrics to fashion the body, honour divinities, and beautify palaces and homes.
