Toronto, Ontario.
Zipline adventure park operator Treetop Trekking has been named Ontario’s Attraction of the Year for 2020, the grand prize in Attraction Ontario’s People’s Choice Awards. This top award for the province’s tourism attraction industry was announced last night, October 28th, during the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario’s annual Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala.
Treetop Trekking was one of three finalists for Attraction of the Year, which was voted on by the public throughout the summer. In September Treetop Trekking was named the winner of the Top Outdoor Attraction category. As one of the top three vote getters across all 8 categories, the company became a finalist for the grand prize of Attraction of the Year, which was announced at last night’s gala.
The other two finalists for Attraction of the Year were Science North (Top Indoor Attraction) and Carousel of Nations (Top Festival and Event). Other category winners included the Stratford Festival (Top Performing Arts), and Great Wolf Lodge (Top Family Entertainment).
The Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala was held virtually this year, with guests and nominees tuning in by video stream.
“It amazes me to see how much our small, dedicated team can accomplish and to see what an impact we can have in the lives of so many people that visit us,” says company founder and President, Stéphane Vachon.
He goes on to say: “To get a big win like this in such an unpredictable year is more than a relief, and I remain optimistic that the tourism industry will rebound stronger than ever. I am grateful and so proud to be a part of this team.”
Mike Stiell, Treetop Trekking Marketing Director adds, “We are so proud to have been named Ontario’s Top Attraction this year. I think that in 2020, authentic outdoor activities like the ones we offer appealed to people even more than usual. The public was looking for fun and unique experiences that would help them forget about the outside world for a few hours, and to create lasting memories with their families or close friends, and this is what we offer every day.”
Treetop Trekking is Ontario’s original zipline adventure park company, offering outdoor activities for a variety of ages and abilities. Locations can be found in Barrie, Brampton, Hamilton, Huntsville, Stouffville, and the Ganaraska Forest between Peterborough and Port Hope.
