Ontario’s first European Community, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons was the headquarters for the French Jesuit Mission to the Huron-Wendat people. In 1639, the Jesuits, along with French lay workers, began construction of a palisaded community that included barracks, a church, workshops, residences, and a sheltered area for Indigenous visitors. This community was abandoned and burned down in 1649.
After extensive archaeological and historical research, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is now recreated on its original site, where the mission’s compelling story is brought to life with costumed historical interpreters and activities.

Discovery Harbour is introducing Supernatural Saturdays this 2025 season. We’ve combined three eerie elements into one awesome ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ evening: Ghost Tours, Bo’sun’s Brig Escape Room, and Secrets of Séance. Book one or all three of these unique experiences available Saturday nights from June 28 to August 30.
Ghost Tours
Join us for a lantern-lit guided ghost tour revealing the supernatural side of Discovery Harbour! Missing artifacts that mysteriously reappear, chess pieces that move, and the image of a small child in a window… These are just some of the unusual happenings that occur at our historic site.
Times: 8 p.m., 8:15 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 8:45 p.m., 9 p.m., 9:15 p.m. (French)

Bo’sun’s Brig Escape Room
Experience our epic Escape Room! You and your guests have run afoul of perhaps the toughest Bo’sun in His Majesty’s Royal Navy, Bo’sun Starkweather! Oh, he is a “Jack Nasty Face”, no doubt about it, and has a sense of humour as dark as the night sky. Which is why he has concocted a series of puzzles and challenges designed to frustrate, confuse and mislead you. Beat him at his game and you gain your freedom! Fail, and the black-souled Bo’sun may leave you in this dank, dark place for good.
Times: 5:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 9 p.m.
Tickets: $24 per person (tax included)
*Please note that Escape Room bookings require 3-6 people per time slot
Secrets of Séance
Step into the mysterious world of Victorian Spiritualism with Secrets of Séance, an immersive new experience at Discovery Harbour. In the 1800s, séances weren’t just quiet gatherings—they were dramatic events where religion, science, and showmanship collided in a public struggle to explain the unexplainable. Guests will explore how séances captured the imagination of the Victorian era. Expect to encounter ghostly sights, eerie sounds, strange scents, and mysterious objects said to appear from beyond. Then, discover the truth behind the illusion, as we reveal the clever techniques and hidden tools used to create these supernatural effects.
Times: 3:30 p.m. (French), 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m.
Tickets: $24 per person (tax included)
Please note that these experiences are not recommended for kids under the age of 12.
Tickets can be purchased online in advance, as all three eerie adventures have limited availability.
