Visit the Diefenbunker Museum to experience “Hidden Heroes,” an impactful exhibition by Artist-in-Residence Don Kwan. This exhibition honors the contributions of essential workers — the often-overlooked cleaners, cafeteria staff, maintenance workers, emergency responders, and others who played a crucial role in sustaining the bunker’s operations during the Cold War.
Visitors will have the opportunity to reflect on history and the individuals who helped shape Canada’s journey toward equity and inclusion. The exhibition features compelling mixed-media installations, including intricate sculptures crafted from archival photographs, paper ephemera, and more.
On display:
– Now until February 2, 2025, during the museum’s operating hours.
Wednesday – Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Created by renowned Canadian actor Shawn Wright, Ghost Light tells the hilarious and heartwarming story of his relationship with his late mother, and how she inspired his passion for theatre and his love of life. Starting from his mother’s birth and carrying through all the way until her passing, topics range from religion and sexuality to country music and Meryl Streep. As a one-man show, Ghost Light is driven by Wright’s powerful stage presence. One minute animated and fully in character, the next conversational and down-to-earth. His performance is both entrancing and humanizing.
Shawn Wright has done 15 productions for the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival. He has done 11 productions for the world renowned Shaw Festival, was in the original Los Angeles cast of Mamma Mia, the original Toronto cast of Jersey Boys and the original Broadway workshop cast of Ragtime. He had a leading role in the 2006 world stage premiere of Lord of The Rings, and on TV he has starred on Murdoch Mysteries, Due South, and a host of others. He has won Toronto’s Dora Award and Stratford’s Guthrie Award as well as a host of nominations for the Broadway World Award. With a 30 year career, Shawn credits his passion for the stage to his mother. Ghost Light is his first play. It’s for her.

After the death of her mother, Ruth (Dunham), an American music journalist, decides to travel to Poland with her father, Edek (Fry). Set in 1990, Edek is a Holocaust survivor who stubbornly refuses to relive his past, despite his daughter’s yearning to make sense of her family’s history. Edek has an agenda of his own – his resistance leads to sabotage and unintentionally funny situations. Together, they finally unpack family trauma and become closer than ever before.

Released in October 2024, the story follows Andy Goodrich (Keaton) as his life is upended when his significantly younger wife leaves him and enters rehab. Goodrich is left with his twin nine-year-old kids. He seeks support from his adult daughter from his first marriage, Grace (Kunis). Though they have grown distant over the years, the two have an opportunity to rebuild their relationship. It’s a heartwarming story about love, family, and forgiveness.

One of Canada’s most influential guitarists and musicians, J.P. Cormier has had a wild and exciting career – before turning 20, he had already become a sideman for Stompin’ Tom Connors and a staple at Studio H recordings in Halifax. In the mid nineties, he exploded onto the trad music scene in the east coast and Cape Breton as a fiddler, performing some of the most difficult music ever produced by legends like Winston Fitzgerald and Angus Chisholm. Born in Ontario to Cape Breton parents, east coast music is in his bones. He put out his first lead album, Another Morning, in 1997. It did incredibly well and to this day, songs off that album have deeply influenced some of the biggest names in the business. People like Dave Gunning, Matt Andersen, David Myles, and Joel Plaskett… all of which will tell you: that Juno-nominated and ECMA-winning record changed things.
Since then, Cormier’s career has continued to flourish. Sixteen albums followed the success of Another Morning, winning 12 more ECMAs, another Juno nomination, a Canadian Folk Music Award and 5 Music Nova Scotia Awards. Each album was a snapshot of each thing that he can do. There are fiddle albums, mandolin, banjo, guitar, tribute records, songwriting collections, a purely astounding spectrum of talent and musical vision. His catalogue of recordings and the 150 or so records he’s produced on other artists, resemble the tapestry he weaves in live performance. Where he used to carry 3 and 4 piece bands, he tours alone now.
Audiences leave his shows amazed and wondering… Did they see a storyteller? A songwriter? Arguably one of the best guitar players in the business today?
