Attractions Ontario Celebrates 40 Years
On Thursday, May 25, 2023, Attractions Ontario hosted its 40th Annual General Meeting at NEB’s Fun World in Oshawa, Ontario. This day included a Business Update, Awards Presentation and Team-Building activities, and a special anniversary acknowledgment.
This year’s AGM was special as Attractions Ontario celebrates its 40th anniversary. Attractions Ontario began in 1983 out of a need for a voice dedicated exclusively to the attractions industry. Throughout the past forty years, Attractions Ontario has grown significantly, now representing over 500 members, annually producing the Passport Magazine & Coupon Book–Ontario’s most picked-up tourism magazine, and the “Are We There Yet?” Field Trip Planner, which features curriculum-based educational programs, alongside its successful website that serves and adheres to the public and the attractions themselves.
Today, Attractions Ontario has an 18-member volunteer Board of Directors representing attractions from all regions in Ontario and five full-time staff who continue to keep attractions at the forefront.
“We are so proud to commemorate 40 years of Attractions Ontario. We will continue to promote, advocate and shine a light on the attractions across this great province,” says Troy Young, CEO of Attractions Ontario.
“The attractions sector is vital to the tourism industry of Ontario and plays an important role in strengthening the province’s economy. I would like to congratulate Attractions Ontario for 40 years of advocating for industry leaders and supporters,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “Year after year, their work helps advance the sector and connects residents and visitors to communities and attractions across the province.”
