Scugog Shores Museum Village and Archives Claimed

The Scugog Shores Museum Village is located at 16210 Island Road and is open from May to September every year. We preserve, research, interpret and exhibit artifacts related to the cultural and natural history of the Township of Scugog area.

Scugog is situated on treaty land that is steeped in rich indigenous history. We acknowledge that we are on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. We recognize and deeply appreciate the historic Indigenous connection to this land and recognize the contributions First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, our province and country as a whole. We’re grateful for the opportunity to meet and work here, and we thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land – for thousands of years.

Our archives, which hold numerous genealogy files, vital statistics records, and photographs, are open to the public by appointment.

The Museum hosts education programs, outreach programs, and special events year-round.

The Village shows what daily life was like in Scugog from the mid 1800s up to the mid 1900s. The Village includes:

  • 11 restored buildings
  • Heritage flower, herb, and vegetable gardens
  • Ojibway Heritage Interpretive Lands – designed in partnership with Mississauga of Scugog Island First Nation

The Scugog Shores Museum Village and Archives is pleased to be the summer home of Theatre on the Ridge! Take in a show under the beautiful show tent on the Museum grounds.
