Rich Hill Candles

From its’ origin in 1970 as a cottage industry, Rich Hill Candles & Gifts has blossomed into one of Muskoka’s favorite family attractions. The business was established on a small farm in a community in Central Ontario, originally settled by Irish immigrants from Rich Hill, Ireland – hence the company name.

1975 saw a relocation of the still fledgling operation to Bracebridge. By 1980, the company had begun to prosper, but a disastrous fire destroyed the Wharf Road retail location. Driven by a combination of youth and determination, the Bracebridge location was rebuilt, and expansion continued into Port Carling and Huntsville. The separate Bracebridge production facility continued to service these locations, as well as supplying products to several other large distribution companies who ship all over North America. General economic downturn in the late 80’s forced consolidation of the entire operation into one location, the current facility on Robert Dollar Drive. Timing was right, as the “factory outlet shopping / factory viewing era” had arrived.

Today’s visitors to the facility are treated to tremendous family entertainment in the form of a “sight and scent safari”.

Rich Hill Candles & Gifts – a Muskoka destination, which has succeeded for over 25 years in providing unique, fun filled, old-fashioned family entertainment.

A large factory-viewing gallery provides visitors with the opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of the candle production floor. The antique taper dipping carousel is estimated to be over 100 years old, and still functions every day dependent entirely on “people power”- the candles are all hand crafted! Our “in factory” candle dipping room puts you in the “heat ” of the action, as you create your own candle souvenir to take home, working right next to the chandlers!

The gift shop is renowned throughout the north for its’ fun, friendly and fantastic entertainment value.

The evolution of Rich Hill Candles & Gifts has spanned 30 years – from a candle maker with a hobby and a dream to one of Muskoka’s favorite family destinations.
