Heritage Kitchen Garden
Visit Durham Region’s oldest home to learn about the lives of our Early Settlers and Indigenous Peoples. See what life was like in the time of the Lynde Family, Jabez, Clarissa and their 8 children, as you tour their beautiful Georgian house (c.1811) and discover their connection to the War of 1812. In the warmer months, you’ll enjoy expanding your tour to Clarissa Lynde’s Heritage Kitchen Garden and learning about the plants used for food, medicine and dyes in the 1800s.
Visit the Warren General Store next door, and you’re sure to find something special created by a local artist, artisan or author. Of course, there’s Lynde House and Whitby souvenirs too. And don’t forget to pick up your favorite flavours of old-fashioned jams & jellies, made fresh on the farm!
Be sure to keep an eye on the Events Schedule – There are festivals, re-enactments, a monthly speaker series, workshops, holiday programming and so much more to enjoy!
