The Toronto Zoo has over 5,000 animals representing over 450 species and 10km of walking trails. Our Zoo is divided into seven zoogeographic regions as you will see on the Zoo map. We are dedicated to providing the animals in our care with the means to live long and enriching lives while connecting people to wildlife. Visitors may come across animal feedings (which could include the feeding of prey items), breeding activities or other natural behaviours while visiting the Zoo.

Discovery Zone:
Explore the Discovery Zone, featuring the Kids Zoo, a dynamic, interactive children’s wildlife experience, Splash Island, an exciting two-acre water play area and the Waterside Theatre, home of family fun. Open seasonally.
Exhibits And Layout:
The Zoo is divided into seven zoogeographic regions: Indo-Malaya, Africa, the Americas, Australasia, Eurasia, Canadian Domain and the Tundra Trek. Animals are displayed indoors in tropical pavilions and outdoors in naturalistic environments, with viewing at many levels.
Rides:
There are five rides: Gorilla Climb Ropes Course, Zoomobile, Conservation Carousel, Tundra Air ride, and Wild Rouge Zipline & Canopy Tour.
Meet our baby pygmy hippo Penelope and baby gorilla Charlie in the African Rainforest before visiting one of the largest reptiles in the world, our Aldabra tortoises Rasputin, Queenie and Malila.
NEW opening this December: Terra Lumina: An Enchanted Night Walk Into A Bright Future. Terra Lumina takes visitors on a journey through a luminous vision of our planet’s future. Passing through a portal, travelers will be transported to a fantastical vision of the year 2099, a time when humans have learned to live in harmony with nature, protecting our planet and the wildlife that calls it home.
